Billionaire Elon Musk Is Currently Couch-Surfing In Friends’ Homes
Living luxuriously and in a huge mansion is one of the essential traits of almost every wealthy person. Owning a plus estate in a prime area is just one of the many luxuries most billionaires enjoy. It was, therefore, surprising to hear one of the world’s wealthiest men, Elon Musk, say that he mostly couch-surf at friends’ homes.
The Tesla and SpaceX founder can own a home in almost every country, has no permanent home currently, and enjoy couch-surfing. Speaking to TED chief Chris Anderson, the controversial businessman, said he currently has no permanent residence. He said, “I don’t even own a place right now. I’m literally staying at friends’ places,” he said. “If I travel to the Bay Area, which is where most of Tesla’s engineering is, I basically rotate through friends’ spare bedrooms.” On why he doesn’t own billions in estates, he indicated that “it would be very problematic if I was spending billions of dollars a year in personal consumption, but that is not the case.”
Musk, worth about $251 billion, recently offered to buy social media network Twitter but later pulled out unceremoniously. Although he owns a private jet, he claims he doesn’t take vacations. Unlike other billionaires, Musk also said he doesn’t have a yacht. “It’s not as though my personal consumption is high. I mean, the one exception is the plane, but if I don’t use the plane then I have fewer hours to work,” he stated.
