Photos That Will Make Folks Say What The Heck

Photos can have many different subjects, happy couples, rambunctious children having the time of their lives, memorable family vacations, stunning landscapes, or other mundane things. Some photos are set up and orchestrated, and others are candid. But you know what makes the best photos? Weird and spontaneously taken photos that will have you saying, “What the heck!” and trying to understand what exactly is happening. If you are bored out of your mind from quarantine and looking for something to put a smile on your face, we have just the right compilation of pictures for you to ponder over. They will entertain you to no end, make you feel different emotions, and maybe discourage you from going to a few places and doing a few things.  Let’s not wait any longer.

#1 Lucky for her, she didn’t go blind

More and more people today are wearing contact lenses nowadays instead of eyeglasses. Wearing lenses makes things easier for people who have problems with their sight. Still, it also entails following instructions such as not sleeping with your lenses in your eyes and cleaning your lenses after removal.

Leaving your contact lens in overnight can result in your corneas being deprived of oxygen, and this can lead to complications. So, when we saw this photo of 27 contact lenses found by a doctor in a woman’s eye, we were shaking our heads. Not only is that just gross, but it’s also very dangerous to put one lens over another over and over again.

#2 Nope, we prefer a hotel

Florida is a state famous for its amazing beaches, year-round sunny climate, and of course, alligators. In Florida, you don’t ask where you see gators. Instead, you ask where you don’t see gators. Some 1.3 million American alligators can be found in Florida, and that’s a lot!

If you want to know what camping in Florida looks like, just look at the picture. Isn’t it fun? Imagine turning in for the night to the sounds of crickets and waking up to a sight such as this. We’d say we won’t be camping in Florida anytime soon.

#3 He couldn’t afford a toilet

Breakups, for the most part, are ugly. It always has animosity and bad blood. Lucky are the former couples who have broken up with each other but remain good friends and truly have nothing but good wishes for their ex.

This breakup didn’t go so well. This girl fell asleep while her ex was packing his things to move out of her apartment. When she woke up the next morning, she got a surprise which wasn’t pleasant at all. Her boyfriend took her toilet with him. Wow!

#4 Just swimming around

Some people bring a glass of water with them to the bedroom. This is so they won’t have to go down to the kitchen in the middle of the night when thirst hits. This is especially a good idea if you live in a two-story house and you sleep on the top floor.

This person woke up thirsty in the middle of the night, so naturally, he reached for his glass of water. Luckily for him, he turned on the lights before he took a big gulp because this arachnid was swimming around in his glass. Imagine what would have happened if he didn’t!

#5 No, we don’t like that future of aviation

The aviation industry took a very big hit when the pandemic began, and borders everywhere had to close. Fortunately, recovery is now in sight, thanks to the vaccines on offer. Experts say that we can expect people to resume traveling by the third quarter of this year.

This might be one of the seats where people will find themselves in the near future. We don’t know exactly how this works, but it makes economy class look like first. Why would people want to spend 8 hours standing on a flight? It’s not comfortable at all. No, we don’t like this.

#6 Nobody’s gonna rent this apartment

As the population in major cities grows exponentially, apartments have not only become more expensive but have also become smaller in size. In New York, for example, a studio or a one-bedroom apartment costs $2,000 per month. This apartment epitomizes space constraints.

Image courteys of Cyanidesuicideml/Reddit

You can take a shower or relieve yourself while preparing your dinner. We’re scratching our heads thinking of this apartment’s design. Who thought of combining the kitchen with the bathroom? More importantly, why would you do that? It is just wrong on every level.

#7 No, this isn’t safe

We’re in complete disbelief about how on earth the car owner can think that his vehicle is roadworthy. No, duct tape doesn’t fix everything, and it should not be used as something that can fix everything. Yes, it works for certain situations but not this one.

This is a road accident waiting to happen, and if you don’t want to put your life or other people’s lives in danger, you should take this car to the repair shop. Better yet, you should just scrap this one and get a completely brand-new car.

#8 Lovely weather outside, but we’ll stay inside

Alaska is a lovely place, especially for those who enjoy being outdoors. Alaska has plenty of mountains, as well as beaches. The state, after all, is bigger than Texas. If you are someone who enjoys kayaking, you’ll be happy to know that the state has plenty of places for that activity.

But being in Alaska also means dealing with uninvited and unwanted guests, such as this huge polar bear. This tourist got the polar bear as a bonus to the cabin he rented. Yes, the weather is lovely outside, but we think it’s safer to stay in.

#9 What would you do if there’s a sinkhole in your backyard?

A sinkhole is a depression or a hole in the ground that can form instantly or gradually. They range in size and depth and are mostly the result of a decreasing water table, collapse of rock, or erosion. Some can also be a result of human activity, such as mining or over-pumping of groundwater.

The biggest sandstone sinkhole in the world is in Venezuela, with a depth of 1,030 feet. The sinkhole that you see in the photo above is located in a Cornish backyard, and it’s 300 feet deep, leading down a medieval mineshaft. Imagine waking up to that!

#10 We all float down there

Stephen King’s IT, which introduced audiences to Pennywise the Clown, is acknowledged as one of the best horror novels of all time. The on-screen adaptation of the novel resulted in a lot of people developing the fear of clowns or coulrophobia.

The guy who tied this clown mannequin to a grate in the drainage pipe thought that it was a clever idea. Perhaps he wanted to give workers a scare when they go down there. But the truth is, it will only cause clogging, and that’s not fun at all.

#11 Nice kitty, don’t open the door

We’re not sure exactly where in the world this house is located, but if we had to guess, we would say in Florida or Australia. It could be either of the two places because they are both overrun with crocodiles and other creepie crawlies. Looking at this photo makes us very nervous.

What if the little kitty decides to open the door and let the gator in? Is the kitty an accomplice? Are they conspiring together to take over the house? Just the thought makes us almost want to wet our pants in fear.

#12 It’s a real mummy

When mummies are mentioned, people instantly think of those that were found in Egypt. After all, mummification was a well-documented part of their burial process. Well, little did we know that mummification was also practiced in other parts of the world.

Just take a look at this 1,000-year-old Buddha sculpture. A CT scan revealed that there’s a mummified monk hidden inside. The monk’s organs had been removed and replaced with scraps of paper and other materials. Talk about the unexpected.

#13 What in the world?!

House flipping is a business that has gotten a lot of attention in recent years. Is there money in it? The average flip reportedly netted sellers a gross profit of $67,000 and a return of more than 40%, which isn’t bad at all.

However, if you are a novice, there are certain pitfalls you want to avoid if you want to make money, such as not having enough time because it can be a time-consuming venture. This contractor had the surprise of his life when he found this face in the basement bathroom.

#14 This is one badass grandma

Muggings and robberies are some of the most common crimes committed today. Some victims are young, while some are older. They don’t just happen in dimly lit areas and alleyways. Some of these crimes also happen on public transports such as trains and buses.

This grandma is not having any of that nonsense. If you ever want to steal her purse, you better be ready to deal with her brass knuckles. She’s going to put up a fight, and she won’t let people bully her or scare her into giving up her purse.

#15 Excuse me, is there a parking area for squids?

If you think that a parking lot is just a boring place where you see old and new cars, then you’re mistaken. Things tend to get weird and exciting sometimes. In 2012, a Viking parliamentary site was found under a parking lot in Scotland.

A parking lot in Oregon also became a mass grave for more than 20,000 bumblebees after they were sprayed with a pesticide. This parking lot, however, was home to a large squid. The only good thing about the squid is that it stayed within the lines.

#16 Did someone complain about a noisy bathroom?

The bathroom is supposed to be a place where you can do your business in peace. Sometimes it can get a little noisy, especially if there is a group of young girls, but for the most part, people come in, do their business, and go out.

Not in this establishment, though. There’s no peace in the bathroom. As a matter of fact, people who went inside to use it complained of the bathroom being noisy as if there were loud crickets. They opened the toilet paper holder and, guess what they found, plenty of tiny frogs.

#17 Let’s just continue playing

If there were a fire, people would be scrambling to collect their belongings and running for their lives, especially if it’s getting really close to your location. However, these people are not of the same sort. They know there is a fire, but they would rather play golf.

What, fire? Oh, just let it ravage the forest; we have more important things to do here. It’s not every day we get to play golf to our heart’s content so let’s make good use of the time we have. Guys, let’s putt.

#18 I didn’t sign up for this

Working in IT means ensuring that all the equipment in the workplace is working the way it should. You also need to troubleshoot various issues that can range from being unable to log in to email and the keyboard not functioning correctly.

Working in IT can be pretty mundane, but this IT guy is having a very exciting day at work. There were some connectivity issues, and when he checked what happened, he got surprised by the slithering snake he found. Nope, he certainly didn’t sign up for this.

#19 All hail

A hailstorm is a weather phenomenon that can easily injure someone, especially if the hailstones are enormous. The larger the hailstones are, the faster they fall. They also usually precede a tornado since the exact conditions needed to produce them also produces tornados.

Image courteys of Browndog888/Reddit

Hailstones this size can certainly cause injury. Just look at how big they are! If your car gets pelted by this, you can expect there will be a lot of damage and your insurance company won’t be happy although they don’t have any choice.

#20 What’s a humpback doing there?

Humpback whales are some of the biggest creatures on the planet. Their fins can grow up to 5 meters long, and that is the largest appendage in the world. Their tails are also massive and can grow up to 5.5 meters long.

Humpback whales are sea creatures, and they naturally belong in the water. We haven’t seen humpback whales on land yet, not until we saw this photo. What is the creature doing in the Amazon rainforest? One of the weirdest things on Earth indeed.

#21 A zombie spider apocalypse is upon us

Turns out that not only humans turn into zombies; spiders can become zombies too. What sorcery happens to these helpless spiders? See that white fur surrounding the spider’s body? It’s a fungus that affects and slowly engemulfs them. For a while, they can live in a zombie-like state.

However, slowly but surely, the fungus takes over their whole body, consumes their tissues, and eventually kills them. Now we know. Most people thought that the spider just got covered in webs and was killed by another of its kind.

#22 The pandemic is bringing out the weird in everyone

This pandemic is certainly bringing out the weird in everyone. Not only were people fighting over toilet paper, eggs, and noodles, you also see a lot of weirdos going out to buy groceries wearing mesh masks that offer no protection at all.

If you think that mesh or transparent masks were weird, you haven’t seen this one yet. This guy thought it would be a good idea to use toilet paper in lieu of a mask when going out to purchase something. Things have escalated since the beginning of the pandemic.

#23 Who’d expect this from a water pipe?

Water pipes are susceptible to calcium buildup, which is also known as limescale. Although calcium buildup problems can be addressed by dissolving it with acids, there are rare cases when an extremely high level of calcium causes major issues.

What you see in the photo is an extreme case of calcium buildup. Look at the depth of that limescale. That can easily lead to clogging problems and may slow down the water supply to a building or a home.

#24 What’s that in the Roomba?

Having a vacuum cleaner certainly makes life easier. You cut down the time needed to clean your house, and you also don’t have to exert that much effort doing so. If they didn’t invent the vacuum cleaner, a lot of people would still be complaining about cleaning.

The Roomba is one of the most popular autonomous robotic vacuum cleaners on the market today, and many people have them. This homeowner was surprised when one day, her Roomba refused to work. It turns out that a little snake got lodged inside.

#25 The tornado did that?

Tornadoes have distinct funnel-shaped clouds that extend from the thunderstorm to the ground. They can be very destructive, and if you have seen the movie Twister, you know exactly what we mean. Those on the tornadoes path can expect to have a lot of damage.

This whole house was ripped from its foundation and relocated, albeit inadvertently, into the middle of the road. This is a good demonstration of just how powerful a tornado is, and it shouldn’t be taken lightly. This is what it means when you hear the song, “Our house, in the middle of the street.”

#26 That doesn’t need fixing yet

Some bosses are very kind and are always on the lookout for the welfare of employees. However, others can be so cheap and not have a care in the world. This boss happens to belong to the latter group, which is indeed a disappointment.

See that very big problem with that pole? The boss said it doesn’t need fixing yet. What does he think will happen? That the pole will remain erect with the base like that? This is a disaster waiting to happen.

#27 The mutant chick

Some chickens are born with deformities, and some of the most common are splayed legs, cross beaks, curled toes, and a crooked neck. This is why it’s vital to handpick chicks from a breeder to minimize the risks. Some conditions can be easily remedied, while others require a lifetime commitment.

The chick in the photo is suffering from a deformity. Not only does it have 4 feet, but it also has double bums. He does all things normal chicks do; its only problem is that it has extra body parts. Perhaps it can be removed?

#28 I only wanted the raspberries

Contrary to popular belief, raspberries have more than a single color. They can be red, gold, purple, or black, but of all varieties, gold raspberries are the sweetest. Unlike other fruits, unripe raspberries don’t ripen after they are picked, so you have to choose your pack carefully

Raspberries are yummy; that’s why they often sell out at groceries. This lady was surprised when she picked up a pack of raspberries with a lizard in it. How did they pack the berries and not notice that big stowaway?

#29 No, we don’t want to let our kids slide on that

Playgrounds are fun places for little children. They get to exercise, have fun with other kids, and develop their social skills, as well. However, playgrounds can be dangerous places too. Children can get injured if they are not supervised properly.

A study conducted in 2017 found that more than 300,000 kids have suffered from injuries while playing on slides. Now, this is a slide we’re not going to let our children go near. Not only does it not look safe, but it also looks weird. Like, what in the world?

#30 Trees get cold too

Have you ever seen trees wearing crochet clothing? That’s what you see in the photo. At first glance, it would seem that somebody spray-painted the trees but take a closer look and you’ll see a process called yarn bobbing.

Why do they need to do that? Trees don’t get cold in the winter. The practice is damaging. The yarn will eventually cut away from the surface and may even rot. It can also restrict access and can be adhered to with other materials that are damaging.

#31 Just shampooing

Every single day, you do the same things. You wake up, go to take a shower, get dressed, and go to work. However, this day isn’t like any other day. When the lady stepped into the shower to get some shampoo, she was surprised to see a bat.

Or the bat was surprised to see her. Look at that face. It’s as if it’s saying, “There’s nothing much going on here. I’m just making sure there are no mosquitoes. Go on; you can resume with your shower.”

#32 This is something you don’t see every day

Some people want to get creative with their cars, so they go for custom paint jobs and other additions to their vehicles. What we don’t frequently see are car owners customizing their exhausts. That’s just weird, right? Well, you haven’t seen this car yet.

Yup, that’s not a joke. That car in the photo has an exhaust in the shape of a star, and unlike other exhausts, it’s elevated. What’s up with that? Is that even legal? We think that this is just unsafe.

#33 Such a small island for a lot of people

One of the most well-known densely populated places in the world is Kowloon Walled City in Hong Kong. It has a population of 43,033 per square kilometer. Imagine just how crowded the place must be, and imagine taking the elevator during rush hour.

Migingo Island is another very populated island. It has a population of 131 on only 0.0008sq miles of what looks like dirt. The island looks like it has nothing much to offer, and the inhabitants must be making the most of what they have.

#34 So glad we didn’t live when dinosaurs were still around

Can you imagine what life must have been like when dinosaurs were still roaming the earth? Every day must have been a struggle to survive. You never know when you’ll get eaten by dinosaurs or when you’ll get stepped on and squashed to death.

For a comparison on how tiny we are compared to dinosaurs, just look at that bird right there. That’s the Quetzalcoatlus Northropi, whew that name is a mouthful. It could grow up to 16 feet tall, about three times the size of an average human, and could weigh up to 250 kilos.

#35 How did that lizard get in there?

Although some may consider them as nothing more than pests, Lizards have an important role to play in the ecosystem. Lizards generally have small heads, long tails, as well as long bodies. However, there are many species, and they come in an array of sizes.

One of the most remarkable things about lizards is that they can detach their tails when caught by a predator. This lizard is remarkable because of the fact that it got inside the microwave clock. How did that even happen?

#36 That’s scary

The Venus flytrap is a remarkable plant. Unlike other plants, it’s carnivorous and relies on insects for its sustenance. It’s less like a plant and more of a living death trap for flying bugs. The alien-like plant has been a source of legends and mystery for hundreds of years.

When they capture prey, their digestion is slow, and it can take a week for larger insects to be digested. This guy’s Venus flytrap isn’t growing any bigger, but it’s growing plenty of mouths. Can you even count how many there are?

#37 What are you looking at?

Being near water makes us happy; this has been proven in studies. No wonder we feel a little lighter, and we feel so much joy when we’re at the beach. There’s plenty of things to do too so you’ll never get bored.

You can play beach volleyball, go swimming, kayaking, snorkeling or you can collect pebbles at the beach. This guy must have been checking the sand for something to bring home when he saw this glass eye which nearly gave him a heart attack.

#38 Fiat was ahead of the competition

Most people don’t know it, but Fiat is an acronym. It stands for Fabbrica Italiana Automobili Torino, which, when translated from Italian, literally means exactly what it sounds like, “Italian Automobile Factory of Turino.” The company was established in 1899 in Italy, so they have been around for quite some time.

Aside from producing cars, Fiat also produced fighter aircraft. Aside from making cars, the company also makes diesel engines for other car brands. Fiat was way ahead of the competition, and if you want any proof, you can see that their factory rooftop in 1929 had a test track.

#39 That’s an ancient phone

Remember the old and first cellular phones during the early 2000s, before iPhones and Samsungs took over the entire market? Nokia was among the top brands of phones, which back then, still didn’t have cameras and still couldn’t play music.

The earlier Nokia phones were heavier and thicker than today’s smartphones. If somebody tried to steal them from you, you could hit them on the head with it, and they’d pass out. But we’re more curious about what’s it doing cemented in the wall, though.

#40 His wife did that?

Doctors and nurses can tell you that they have come across some really bizarre cases. For example, a man in China came in with a 20-foot long tapeworm because he’s been consuming raw meat. Another man went to the hospital with a fishbone stuck in his eyeball.

What you see in the above photo is another medical oddity that can be added to the annals of history. This rather naïve man went to the doctor with small metal pellets in his head. Asked how it happened, he said that his wife accidentally shot him while trying to chase a raccoon out of their property. Now this smells fishy. You better divorce your wife.

#41 This wasn’t what we expected

An anchor is usually made of metal, and it’s used to connect the ship to the bed of a body of water so that it doesn’t shift with the currents. There are many types of anchors, but they all serve the same purpose.

The crew of this vessel didn’t think much when they dropped their anchor. When they were about to leave the place, they decided to raise their anchor. It was hooked to an unexploded torpedo. We just hope that everyone was safe.

#42 No filter needed

Wildfires can be very devastating both to wildlife and to property. In 2019 alone, there were more than 50,000 wildfires all over the world. More than 4 million acres were also ravaged by wildfires during the same year and the losses suffered were devastating.

Many wildfires are started by lightning strikes and other weather conditions, but about 90% of wildfires in the US are started by humans. The picture above is of a wildfire in Australia. No, there’s no filter needed, the crimson shade is because of the fire.

#43 That’s one horror-loving girlfriend

If you ever meet a fun-loving girl who loves surprises, horror movies, true-crime documentaries, and who doesn’t nag or doesn’t need you to update her of your whereabouts constantly, you better keep her. She’s a one-in-a-million catch.

Just look at this guy. He seems to be loving his girlfriend even more after she sent him this photo while she was waiting for her doctor. Yup, that’s a killer clown right there, looking at you from the window.

#44 Weird things in parks

Public parks are places where you can unwind, sit back, engage in some people watching, and maybe watch over your little ones while they play with other children. Some parks are well thought of and well planned, while others are just plain weird.

But we like weird, right? Some weirdness is needed to spice up life. This park in Algeria has some very interesting sculptures. Look at this banana that suddenly becomes a duck from the waist up. We’d want to take a picture with this.

#45 What in the world happened?

What would you do if you saw this? Did a truck carrying silver paint overturn on the road ahead that pedestrians ended up looking like this? What have the children been doing? Is there any camera nearby, and are they filming a prank?

So many questions but little to no answers. It’s still too early for Halloween, and even if it is Halloween, what are they dressed up as? We don’t recall any popular characters that looked like this. Nothing comes to mind.
